Alepo’s Policy Server "pushes"* policies toward the network element in order to allow for real-time enforcement of changes in service.
When deployed with the Alepo Billing, Charging, Service Activation Portal, the Policy server enforces billing and business policies. For example, it can facilitate advanced services such as:
- Interactive session disconnect
- On demand bandwidth (turbo button)
- Bandwidth downgrade after reaching a download cap.
Events that trigger the policy engine can be an outcome of internal business rules, or be initiated by an external system using supplied API.
Once a triggering event is evaluated by the policy engine, an outcome may be real-time policy change toward a network element. Such a policy change is accomplished using standards, proprietary protocols, or web services.
The Policy Server can be deployed in lieu of or as an extension of the AAA server to support advanced policy features within network elements.
Please contact Alepo for more information.
