Austin, TX, January 31, 2011 — In response to the Federal Communications Commission's recent action to designate LTE as the broadband platform for a nationwide network for first responders, Alepo introduced today the world's first Public Safety Controller for LTE.
Built specifically to address the challenges of public safety communications networks, the Alepo Public Safety Controller extends the functionality of the existing LTE evolved packet core, enabling the network to adapt dynamically to different emergency situations.
"The distinct needs of a public safety wireless broadband network extend beyond those of a commercial deployment, and thus are not addressed by existing off-the-shelf LTE network elements designed for commercial use," stated John Kim, Alepo Vice President of Business Development. "Alepo has identified these gaps and bridged them with a robust and secure solution, allowing public safety systems to rely on LTE technology."
Alepo is in talks with leading network equipment vendors to integrate the Alepo Public Safety Controller with their LTE offerings.
"Integration with Alepo's Public Safety Controller allows network equipment vendors to utilize their existing commercial LTE components for public safety without compromising the needs of first responders," stated Kim.
